They were at their ruthless best in their last outing, recording an emphatic 12–0 victory over the Flying Phoenix of ESUT. Abia Angels, on the other hand, sit 4th on the NWFL log after seven league games, making Tuesday’s encounter a true test for the Rangers Women. Speaking ahead of the clash, Rangers Women head coach, Favour Aneke, emphasized the importance of the fixture, describing it as a valuable opportunity to further prepare the team for the NWFL Championship. “Playing against Abia Angels is a top match for the girls. It means what every other match means to us, an opportunity to improve and fine-tune the team ahead of the NWFL Championship,” he said. The gaffer expressed confidence in his squad’s tactical growth and praised the young talents within the team. “We have a very good team, made up of blooming young talents. This is Rangers Women, and we play good football. We have gone 18 games unbeaten against other women football clubs since January 2025, and we hope that our unbeaten run does not end against Abia Angels here in the Cathedral,” Aneke stated. Coach Aneke confirmed that the team is ready while showing respect to their opponents. “This is Rangers, we are born ready. It is an honour to play against one of the best NWFL teams. Massive respect to the Abia Angels head coach, team manager, and general manager; they are doing a good job. " Providing an update on injuries and recruitment, the coach revealed that attacking midfielders Onyemaenu Chimdindu and Minka Praise recently underwent ACL surgeries, while Arogundade Funke is making steady progress in her recovery and is expected to return to action soon. He also disclosed that the club is in talks with one or two prospects, though details remain undisclosed until deals are finalized. Coach Aneke highlighted the club’s commitment to youth development, naming Kosarachi Okeke, Etim Precious, Obodo Chidiuto, and the exciting young sensation Udemezue Chioma, discovered during the Enugu State Secondary School Games, as part of the Rangers Women youth project. “With her parents’ approval, Udemezue Chioma is currently in our camp, receiving proper training while combining it with her education. At Rangers, we encourage education because we acknowledge life beyond the pitch,” he concluded.
