Ilechukwu was warmly received by players, members of the technical crew, management, and fans during a training session on Wednesday, marking his official return to duties with the Flying Antelopes. Speaking to the press, the gaffer expressed delight at being back and praised the team’s performances during his absence. He revealed his intention to instil the winning mentality and resilience displayed by the current Super Eagles squad into his Rangers side. “It feels good to be back after AFCON. I received a very warm welcome from the players, coaches, and fans who believe in my abilities. I am impressed with the results the team achieved in my absence, and I want the players to adopt the mentality of the Super Eagles,” Ilechukwu said. Turning attention to Sunday’s crucial fixture against Warri Wolves, the Technical Adviser described the encounter as a must-win game, stressing the importance of focus and intensity. “Wolves are coming here on Sunday and, honestly, they are a decent side. We lost the first leg away from home, but I have spoken to the players and the Head Coach. This is a must-win game for us. The players are working very hard in training, and I am confident we will get a favourable result,” he stated. Ilechukwu also provided an update on the squad, particularly on the return of Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, who has been sidelined for a long period due to injury. The defender rejoined full training with the team on Thursday. “I have been away on national duty, so I will communicate with the Head Coach to get a full update on the injured players. As for Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, it is very good to have him back after a long time. The Head Coach will decide whether he will be available for the game against Warri Wolves,” he added. On his future at the club, the gaffer disclosed that his contract is set to expire in May, confirming interest from Plateau United while also revealing ongoing talks with Rangers’ management over a possible extension. “The most important thing at Rangers right now is the foundation the youth team. Our vision is to have about 70 percent of the first-team players coming from the academy. That way, the future is secured, with or without me. My contract expires in May, and unless my demands are met, I may leave the club,” Ilechukwu explained. He concluded by calling on the supporters to turn out in large numbers and rally behind the team on Sunday. “The fans are our twelfth man and the lifeblood of this club. I urge everyone to come out en masse and support us on Sunday,” he said. All eyes will now be on the Cathedral as Rangers aim to secure a vital result against Warri Wolves under the guidance of their returning Technical Adviser.
